About Legacies of Love
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to read a letter written just for you by your grandmother years after she is gone? With the total uncertainty we face in the world today, the most solid foundation of our lives will live through the strength of our family memories. I think the most important gift we can give to people we love is the story of our lives, which is so fascinating and unique to each of us. The power of our feelings can span generations and should be shared with those we love. It is so important that we not only share these feelings with each other, but write them down. We need to let our spouses, children, grandchildren, siblings, and even our parents, know what they mean to us and how much we respect and cherish them. If we don't, then those memories are silenced when the bearer is gone — what a shame to lose those words of love, of history, of generations.
I think I have been writing down my thoughts and memories most of my life and sharing them with the people I love. I still have poems I wrote as a 7th grader and scrapbooks that go back long before then! When I was a young mother and money was tight, for Mother's Day or other special occasions I would look through family pictures, find poems that matched my feelings, and put them all together as a gift! I guess I was scrapbooking before scrapbooking was cool! As my children entered their senior year of high school, I began a journal and presented it to them on their graduation day — basically the journals consist of "Mom's thoughts on life, love, sex, marriage, children, hopes, dreams, etc". They still have those books and hopefully will share them with their own children when the time is right!
I've always been a story writer and enjoy the immense power of words. It's amazing to me how words can provoke so many different emotions!
For thirteen years I worked for one of the largest banks in the Midwest, beginning my career in secretarial support and climbing the proverbial ladder of success in the Development and Training area. This was such an exciting time for me because of the creative side of training and the freedom of expression the job provided. I really learned a lot from those thirteen years and still treasure the people I trained, worked with, or managed, as some have remained my closest friends!
After leaving the Bank I worked from home as a Medical Transcriptionist for six years, which was also a great learning experience, as well as a totally different type of challenge! Fortunately, I worked for a fantastic allergy physician who also has the best staff with whom I have ever had the pleasure of working. This job provided an opportunity to hone my typing and listening skills, as well as challenge me in a totally new environment.
Through the years I have taken numerous self-improvement, leadership, team building, interpersonal, and various business training classes, as well some to improve my writing skills. I am looking forward to this new and exciting career with Legacies of Love and hope to help others tell their personal stories or redefine a relationship through a Letter of Love!
